Pimple troubles are the problem of many, but few know how Pimple develops and spreads. Knowing this information can help in controlling it and selecting the right treatment for Pimple.
Human skin secretes what is known as sebum, through its sebaceous glands which are connected to hair follicles. Under normal circumstances this sebum does the job of protecting and lubricating the skin. However, at times these glands produce more sebum than is good for the skin and this extra stuff gets trapped inside hair follicles, thereby clogging them. When the pore is blocked, the bacterium Propionibacterium grows in the area, giving rise to pimples known as whiteheads or blackheads. This necessitates Pimple treatments.
Pimple control
Whatever medicines are used in the treatment for Pimple, a healthy diet and lifestyle are important for curing it. A diet that contains lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and nuts, but are low in red meat and dairy products are ideal for those who are prone to Pimple. Taking sufficient quantities of liquids, in the form of water or juices, will also help. It will prevent dehydration, which is one of the reasons for the skin pores getting clogged and developing Pimple. While buying cosmetics, it is important to check for the label non-comedogenic on them. A tanned skin is more susceptible to Pimple and so are people who have to cope with a lot of stress.
The American Academy of Dermatology has provided certain guidelines that will help in Pimple control.
• A pimple is not to be squeezed or touched. That will spread the infection and worsen the condition.
• After washing with a mild or sulfur soap, the face has to be patted dry and not rubbed dry. It can be done twice a day.
• Avoid oily products both for consumption and application.
• Rubbing from sports equipments, and the grease prevalent in fast food joints, promote Pimple and should be avoided.
• Pimple medication takes effect slowly and so patients will have to wait for a while to see the results.
• Tanning is to be avoided while undergoing Pimple treatments. Since the photosensitivity of the skin is increased by some Pimple medicines, people using them should use sunscreen while out in the sun.
