Diet has always been a controversial method of treating Pimple. There are several very popular diet-based Pimple cures available on the internet that seem to be successful for many people. The medical community has been sceptical of any treatment having to do with food. They claim there is no “real” evidence and that anecdotal evidence is not trustworthy. Recently, however, new studies have proven that there is a link between Pimple and diet. I expect the diet-based Pimple cures to gain traction and acceptance over the long term as more doctors look at the evidence and see the benefits of a healthy diet over their disappointing tradition methods.

Let’s take a look at the common ways that pimples are treated by doctors. Typically, the first product prescribed to an Pimple sufferer is a topical benzoyl peroxide cream and perhaps topical or oral antibiotics. Benzoyl peroxide is really only effective in treating mild cases of Pimple. Like antibiotics, it kills the P.Pimples bacteria on the skin surface that can infect blackheads and whiteheads and turn them into pimples.

Here’s the problem. Bacteria is only one part of the Pimple equation. People can, and do, have Pimple even with no bacteria present. Pimple is actually caused by how our bodies produce and react to androgen hormones. Fighting Pimple with antibacterial agents fights the symptoms of pimples but not the actual cause of Pimple. You cannot cure a disease by tackling the symptoms. These medicines may help the patient by reducing the symptoms but the patient is locked in a cycle whereby stopping the medicine will see their Pimple return. Month after month the Pimple sufferer has to buy more expensive medicines and often, especially if the Pimple is severe, sees disappointing results.

Not only are antibiotics less effective than they should be, but their use (not including benzoyl peroxide) causes an increase in the incidence of antibiotic resistant bacteria. This is a serious problem facing humanity today. New superbugs are being created that we have no weapons against. Most responsible doctors no longer administer antibiotics except when it is absolutely necessary.

The other major weapon in the dermatologist’s arsenal is Accutane. This powerful drug has a role to play in Pimple treatment but must only be used as a last resort. The severe side effects associated with its use have caused it to be removed from the American market. The side effects are well documented, but what Pimple patients might be less aware of is that Accutane does not work overnight and they should expect to look much worse, not better, for up to a year while on the drug.

A recent medical investigation has proven that diet influences the production and synthesis of androgen hormones and this can have a direct effect on our complexions. (Source: Berra B, Rizzo AM. Glycemic index, glycemic load, wellness and beauty: the state of the art. Clinics in Dermatology. 2009:27:230-235) By eating a healthy diet, perhaps as described in some of the popular holistic Pimple treatments on the internet, it is possible to reduce or even cure Pimple. While this is great news to Pimple sufferers who have been disappointed with the effectiveness and cost of traditional treatments, it remains to be seen if doctors will embrace the concept of dietary Pimple cures or if they will continue to prescribe costly medicines that keep their patients coming back month after month, year after year. Certainly, the drug companies will put doctors under a lot of pressure to keep the money-train rolling. Pimple is a huge multi-billion dollar industry that carries on in spite of the fact that the Pimple cures the industry provides are ineffective for many customers. Hopefully, word will get out that there are cheaper and more effective ways to treat Pimple in the privacy of your own home by adjusting your diet to fix your complexion.
